Minutes of Executive Board Meeting
Washington, D.C.
June 4 & 5, 1980
An Executive Board Meeting was held in Washington, D.C. at DEA Headquarters
on June 4 and 5, 1980. The following individuals attended these meetings:

B.M. Lea brought forth information regarding State Representative Program.
Twenty-five members serving as State Representatives, 45 States, District
of Columbia, Army C.I.D., and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. State
Representatives have been sent survey forms to complete on each of the members
in their state or area. As of June 1, 1980, 177 forms have been submitted
by 13 State/Area Representatives.
Discussion was held on getting someone local in Virginia Beach for a display
on Manufactured Police Equipment. Have Tom Collins locate a local police
supply company to see if they would like to participate at the conference
with a display.
B.M. Lea will contact Becton-Dickson and Airtron Company to see if they will
participate at the conference with a display of Police Equipment supplies.
Jim Harris states that James L. Pfeiffer, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office,
Florida, wrote a letter to Charles Reavis requesting that he be able to remain
an active member of the Association, due to the fact that he has retired
from law enforcement. He is now the Director of Security for Pic’N’Save
Drugs. The Executive Board took a vote and decided to allow Mr. Pfeiffer
remain an active member of the Association.
Dave Pembleton reported on the tax exempt status. As of May 5, 1980,
we became tax exempt. We were incorporated January 8, 1980. Discussion
was held concerning the tax exempt status. Dave recommended that The
Honorable David Van Horn, Attorney At Law, be made an Honorary Member of
the Association, for his help in getting up tax exempt. The Executive
Board agreed to make him as such, and present him with a plaque.
A decision was made to have plaques presented at the conference to each officer,
Tom Collins, John Wilder, Gene Pawlik, and Debbie Rosales.
June 5, 1980
Discussion was held on the agenda, speakers, etc., for the conference in
Virginia Beach. Topic will be “Technical Investigative Aids”, presented
by Mr. Pete MacVean and Mr. Bob Doms. Harry Myers will do the legal
portion.

At 2:00 p.m. the Executive Board addressed Class #24, about joining the Association.
