Minutes of Executive Board Meeting
Memphis, Tennessee
December 5-6, 1981
An Executive Board Meeting was held in Memphis, Tennessee on December 5,
1981. This meeting took place at the Criminal Justice Complex and was
attended by:
President Dave Pembleton
1st Vice President Jim Wallace
Secretary Jim Harris
Treasurer Ronnie Wilks
Conference Coordinator Sammy Owens
Topics of Discussion
A. Contact having been made with Police Training Section at the Federal
Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia. Mr. Drew Moren appointed
as Liaison Officer.
B. Letter on tax exempt status probation turned over to Ronnie Wilks
for update work.
C. Discussion of change of logo to a new one. This matter will
be handled by Jim Wallace. He will also handle printing of Certificates
of Membership, State Representative Certificates, Wallet I.D. Cards, Stationery,
Envelopes, and Dues Envelopes.
D. Decision was made to send out dues envelopes for Association members
at first of each year.
On December 6, 1981, at 10:00 a.m., the Executive Board met again with the
same board member present.
Topics of Discussion
A. Sammy Owens, Conference Coordinator, showed the Executive Board
slides of the Biloxi Hilton Hotel for our Twelfth Annual Conference site.
B. Scheduled dates were set as August 29th for early registration with
the Conference to close after the Banquet on Thusday, September 2, 1982.
C. Topic chosen for the Conference was Smuggling – Recognition and
Interdiction – “The Challenger of the Future”.
D. Tentative schedule of entire Conference to be worked up by Sammy
Owens and Jim Wallace and to be presented in our Newsletter.
E. Decision was made to make up Association T-shirts and give one to
each member at the Conference. Additional shirts to cost what the Association
pays for each ones cost.
F. Discussion on events for wives at the Conference to be handled by
Conference Coordinator Sammy Owens and Jim Wallace.
